HAYLEY
Hayley has worked at Gregory Dean since April 2014, and says she loves being a part of such a creative team that has seen her work on Fashion Weeks in London, Paris, Milan and Korea.
Hayley loves cutting, short, edgy haircuts as much as she loves colouring and long hair.
One of the main reasons Hayley wanted to work for Gregory Dean was the fashion element, as she knew Ben and Dean encouraged their staff to get involved at Fashion Weeks in London and beyond.
She said: “the boys really want us to expand and have been so helpful, even in teaching us things about backstage etiquette. I was so anxious at first, but after my first show I was buzzing.” She has since gone on to work on London, Paris and Milan Fashion Week shows for many designers including Amanda Wakeley and the House of Holland. Hayley also flew out to Korea with Ben to work on the Gucci cruise show.
Q: A client comes in and says ‘I don’t know what I want.’ Is this a mistake?
A: Definitely not. We love consulting with clients to come up with something that will work for them. We have to know about their lifestyle, for example, if they are a mummy with young children they may not be able to come in every six weeks. Sometimes when a client likes a photo, you realise it’s not the hair they like, it’s the model’s eyebrows or make up, so you need to figure out how to achieve what they actually want. I take into account the face shape, the line of the eyes and the client’s best features and what will bring them out, what length hair is going to lift their face or drag it down. Even though I am a hairdresser, I am not adventurous with my own hair, so I do understand nervousness with regards to going for a restyle! I make people feel absolutely comfortable and confident before I do anything.”
